This is a CD Lucy wrote and narrated.
It is composed of contemporary stories and poems about the character “Sweeney” who hovers constantly over her work.
The location in the photo is West Cork.
from The Globe and Mail Short List:
“Lucy Brennan left her native Dublin in 1957 but hasn’t lost her Irish accent or the history that’s in her bones. The poet, who now lives in Whitby, Ont., self-produced a CD of her works . . . called The Tellings and Mad Sweeney. The first 15 stories feature contemporary themes told in a traditional manner; the second part centres on the legendary Mad Sweeney, a 7th-century figure who lived among the bushes and the birds.“
